PSW Rolls Out QR-Enabled e-Certificate of Origin for Exporters

Published:

Pakistan Single Window (PSW) has officially launched a new digital service designed to streamline the country’s export processes. The electronic Certificate of Origin (non-preferential), now live on the PSW platform, enables exporters to apply for and receive a QR code-enabled certificate entirely online from their respective chambers of commerce and trade associations. This fully digital process represents a major step forward in modernizing and enhancing transparency in Pakistan’s cross-border trade ecosystem.

The e-Certificate of Origin, or e-COO, allows exporters to bypass the traditional manual procedures and physical documentation, offering a streamlined digital experience. As part of this service, the entire application and issuance cycle has been digitized, reducing delays and increasing the reliability of documentation in trade transactions. Exporters can now access the service via the newly launched e-COO portal, which is integrated directly with the PSW platform. This integration ensures that data flows smoothly between exporters, trade bodies, and government authorities, minimizing administrative burdens and supporting faster processing.

Chambers and trade associations across Pakistan are now being onboarded and given access credentials to the platform, allowing them to begin issuing the digital certificates to exporters. The new system also improves document authenticity through its QR code verification feature, giving receiving authorities at destination markets greater confidence in the origin and legitimacy of the shipments.

The initiative has been made possible through support from the Export Development Fund, which provided critical funding to bring the digital service to life. The collaboration between PSW and the fund exemplifies how coordination among forward-looking public sector agencies can lead to the successful delivery of impactful public services. The development and implementation process also benefited from the active engagement of chambers and trade bodies, whose feedback and participation helped shape the service to meet the needs of exporters.

The launch of the e-COO comes as part of PSW’s broader efforts to enable efficient, paperless trade procedures across all points of the export and import process. With this launch, exporters are empowered with a simplified, secure, and transparent method for securing the documentation required to certify the origin of their goods—an essential element in international trade agreements and customs procedures.

The PSW team has been recognized for their work in designing and delivering the service, further reinforcing the platform’s role as a national gateway for trade facilitation and digital transformation. Contributions and support from stakeholders including Jonathan Koh, Aleksei Bondarenko, Pierre Bonthonneau, Yann Duval, Tristan E., William Gain, Satya Sahu, Nasruminallah, Mian Humayun Zafar, Amer Zafar Durrani, REMIT Pakistan, and the Board of Investment also reflect the collaborative approach behind this achievement.

The e-COO portal is now active and available for use at https://lnkd.in/dX_85cip, opening up new possibilities for efficient, transparent and technology-driven trade operations across Pakistan.
