LUMS Executive Programme Equips Managers With Practical Generative AI Skills

Published:

As organisations continue increasing their investment in artificial intelligence, the need for skilled managers capable of turning AI strategies into practical business outcomes is becoming more important than ever. While senior leadership often defines AI priorities, mid level managers are responsible for implementing these initiatives across departments and ensuring they deliver measurable value. Recognising this growing demand, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), through its Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC), has introduced the Generative and Agentic AI for Managers programme to help professionals develop practical AI capabilities that can be applied directly within their organisations. Designed primarily for managers from non technical backgrounds, the programme focuses on building confidence in using emerging AI technologies rather than requiring advanced programming knowledge.

The programme addresses the rapid evolution of generative and agentic AI, technologies that are increasingly transforming business operations by automating workflows, supporting decision making, improving collaboration, and enhancing productivity. Participants will receive practical training in prompt engineering, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), AI agent design, and agentic AI architectures while also gaining an understanding of ethical AI governance and responsible implementation. In addition to these technical concepts, the programme includes a strategic overview that enables managers to align AI initiatives with broader organisational objectives without duplicating the in depth strategic content covered in previous executive offerings. Through interactive discussions, case studies, and hands on learning exercises, participants will explore how AI systems can improve operational efficiency while supporting innovation across multiple business functions.

A key objective of the programme is to reduce the confidence gap many organisations continue to face despite growing AI investments. Industry surveys indicate that while executives are increasingly investing in AI initiatives, relatively few feel fully prepared to manage AI driven projects effectively. To address this challenge, the curriculum combines practical laboratories with real world business scenarios that demonstrate how generative and agentic AI can be deployed across departments including human resources, finance, sales, marketing, customer support, healthcare, insurance, retail, and other industries. Participants will also learn how agentic AI systems process information, make decisions, coordinate tasks, and assist teams by automatically managing workflows and sharing relevant information across business units. This cross functional approach is intended to help organisations strengthen collaboration while improving productivity, customer service, innovation, and risk management through responsible AI adoption.

The executive programme is intended for mid level managers and high potential team leaders with approximately four to seven years of professional experience across operations, finance, marketing, human resources, product management, information technology, and related functions. It is open to participants from a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, services, financial services, healthcare, retail, and the public sector. The programme fee has been set at PKR 200,000, while residential accommodation is available for an additional PKR 80,000 for applicable programme offerings outside Karachi. LUMS has also introduced a group discount policy under which organisations enrolling more than two executives, up to five participants, will receive a 20 percent discount for each additional participant after the first two. Applications will be reviewed based on programme suitability, with seats allocated on a first come, first served basis following successful completion of the admission process. Payments can be made online through the embedded LUMS payment portal, via designated United Bank Limited branches, or through bank transfer, while participants also have access to substitution, transfer, and refund options subject to the university’s published policies.
