Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), a leading telecom and ICT services provider, has entered into a strategic partnership with DWP Technologies to modernize its data center infrastructure through the integration of software-driven enterprise and mid-tier storage platforms from Dell Technologies. This initiative marks a significant milestone in PTCL’s digital transformation journey, aligning with its commitment to upgrading critical infrastructure to meet the growing demands of its expanding network and enterprise customer base.
The formal signing ceremony took place in Islamabad and was attended by senior representatives from all involved organizations, including Jafar Khalid, Group Chief Technology and Information Officer at PTCL and Ufone 4G, and Rohail Bashir, Chief Operating Officer at DWP Technologies. Also present were key members of senior management from PTCL Group, DWP Technologies, and Dell Technologies, signaling the collaborative strength behind this infrastructure upgrade.
The core objective of this partnership is to enhance PTCL’s storage capabilities, streamline operations, and ensure greater operational efficiency and scalability. The deployment of Dell’s advanced storage platforms is set to support PTCL’s current mission-critical infrastructure, which spans three active sites and utilizes enterprise-level replication services (SRDF). The transition will not disrupt existing services, as PTCL has ensured full continuity and support for ongoing operations, including for its Ufone 4G network.
A major highlight of the upgrade is the deployment of a three-site active-active metro architecture. This configuration increases availability and resilience, allowing PTCL to deliver uninterrupted service even during local disruptions. The system has been designed with scalability at its core, ensuring that PTCL’s evolving data requirements can be met without compromising performance or operational integrity.
The modernization effort also yields substantial operational advantages. PTCL’s data center footprint will be significantly reduced, translating to lower power and cooling requirements. This results in a more energy-efficient infrastructure, leading to cost savings while reinforcing PTCL’s focus on sustainable operations. The optimization of space and resources further supports PTCL’s goal of achieving long-term operational excellence in a competitive digital landscape.
Jafar Khalid emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership, stating that the collaboration with DWP Technologies and Dell Technologies not only advances PTCL’s transformation goals but also underscores its leadership in data center innovation. He highlighted the significance of this step in reinforcing PTCL’s ability to deliver enterprise-grade digital solutions to a diverse client base.
Rohail Bashir of DWP Technologies echoed the sentiment, describing the alliance as a testament to DWP’s commitment to enabling businesses through transformative infrastructure. He noted the role of this initiative in shaping the digital future of Pakistan’s telecom landscape by offering scalable and reliable IT solutions that meet global benchmarks.
The integration of Dell’s software-defined storage infrastructure through DWP Technologies positions PTCL to better serve both individual and enterprise customers with improved reliability, performance, and agility. This collaboration showcases how telecom operators are embracing next-generation infrastructure to support future-ready digital ecosystems in Pakistan.
