Hit the Ground Running

That’s us. And that’s what it would look like to the casual onlooker. As an industry, it is in our nature to observe the market, play out all the scenarios in our head and then execute. While it is critical to plan, the lack of chaos and excitement it might bring is just as dangerous.

Perhaps we like the buzz and the noise or love the clutter that we sit in, but planning is critical. Last month has been a busy month for us and the CIO calendar isn’t getting any lighter.

We dedicated the cover story of this issue to things that a CIO needs to know about Web2.0. As dynamic as it is, when something is created by the people for the people, there needs to be some kind of regulatory check in place. The CIO needs to be able to appreciate the interactivity and power so he knows when to block it and when to embrace it. Our Strategic CIO this issue is also a short, inspirational story on how a seth-oriented industry rolled out SAP in 6 months.

Speaking of which, we’ve been getting great critiques from the industry, which helps us keep aligned with the objectives we’ve set for ourselves. It’s a tough world out there but as I emphasized at the August Conference, as long as you reach out to us, we can keep doing our job. Talk about collaboration for alignment!

We’re also revamping our web presence so if you get a chance, do stop by and let us know how we’re doing. In addition to working the web a bit more interactive, we are also putting out the first issue of Chief Marketing Officer with this issue of CIO, so you get the opportunity to see interactivity from the information and marketing perspectives. And in case you’re wondering, we will be publishing the first issue of CSO with CIO’s next month issue, so if there is something you’d like us to feature, please send your emails now.

Before signing out, I’d like to say a special thank you to Faisal Khan, CEO NetAccess Communication Systems for his input towards the issue and also for inspiring us to give 150% to the first CIO and keeping us on our toes on making sure we match international CIO standards.

A special thanks to all the people who contributed the launch, the amazing amount of support for events promised and the continuous flow of advertising and subscription queries we get each day. Much as we want to respond to everyone and everything, we would like to beg off for the first quarter of CIO. More than anything, we want our quality, content and structure in place before addressing all of you. We’ve hit the ground running, but we still need to make sure we’re headed in the right direction. We appreciate the constant feedback and we know that the industry is all set to support the CIO brand portfolio in a tremendous way!

Ramadan Mubarak! Until next month,
Signing out!
