AI In Finance Event Highlights Enterprise Transformation Across Pakistan

Published:

The discussion around artificial intelligence in finance continues to evolve as organizations move beyond using AI for isolated tasks and begin integrating it into core finance operations. At the AI in Finance: Live in Pakistan event, industry leaders highlighted how artificial intelligence is becoming an integral part of enterprise finance operating models rather than simply serving as a tool for automating individual activities such as invoice processing or report generation. The event showcased how AI can support more intelligent financial operations by understanding relationships between invoices, suppliers, purchase orders, contracts, tax treatments, approvals, organizational policies, and payments while operating within established enterprise controls. Participants emphasized that this broader application of AI has the potential to improve operational efficiency by enabling more informed decision making across finance functions.

During the event, Tapal Tea (Pvt.) Ltd. and Wafi Energy Pakistan, Shell Licensee, shared their experiences in adopting intelligent finance practices within enterprise environments. According to the discussions, both organizations are moving from fragmented and manually driven financial processes toward more connected and intelligent finance operations. Rather than focusing solely on accelerating individual finance tasks, the organizations described how AI can help identify activities requiring attention, analyze relationships between multiple sources of financial information, and recommend appropriate actions while remaining aligned with enterprise governance and operational controls. These examples demonstrated how finance departments are exploring practical approaches to integrating artificial intelligence into existing business processes without replacing established enterprise systems.

The event also featured perspectives from industry leaders including Azhar Nawaz, Ijlal Jafri, Razi Rahman, and Muhammad Aamir Jameel, who discussed artificial intelligence adoption from different industry backgrounds and stages of digital transformation. Despite representing different organizations and experiences, the speakers highlighted a common perspective that artificial intelligence does not eliminate the need for enterprise resource planning systems, governance frameworks, or human judgment. Instead, they noted that AI changes how people interact with finance processes by introducing greater intelligence into operational workflows while leaving accountability and final decision making with finance professionals. The discussions reinforced that enterprise resource planning systems continue to serve as the system of record, while artificial intelligence enhances the operational layer by helping organizations process information more efficiently and identify actions requiring human attention.

Another key topic discussed during the event was Enterprise Payables Orchestration and its role in reducing fragmentation across finance operations. Participants noted that many traditional finance processes require significant manual intervention because information is distributed across multiple systems, workflows, and approval stages. By incorporating artificial intelligence into these processes, organizations can improve coordination between enterprise systems while reducing unnecessary complexity and enabling finance teams to focus on higher value activities. The discussions held in Karachi reflected the growing interest among enterprises in combining artificial intelligence with established financial controls to support more connected, efficient, and intelligent finance operations. As organizations continue advancing their digital transformation strategies, the event highlighted how AI is increasingly being viewed as an operational capability that complements enterprise systems and human expertise rather than replacing them.
