Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) Pakistan recently hosted an investor led webinar, bringing together members of its cohort with leading investors and financiers as part of preparations for the upcoming CFA Pakistan Investor Roadshow. The session provided an opportunity for climate focused ventures to engage with experienced professionals and gain insights into investment readiness, financing opportunities and strategies for attracting capital. Moderated by CFA financial expert Sara Lemniei, the webinar focused on the importance of strengthening connections between climate solution providers and potential investors while supporting initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions through innovative and commercially viable projects.
The webinar opened with remarks from Imtiaz Saithna, CFA, Country Director at British International Investment, who highlighted the importance of increasing capital flows toward emerging markets by mobilizing both domestic and international investment. He emphasized the need to create stronger pathways for financing climate focused initiatives and enabling businesses working on sustainable solutions to access the resources required for growth. The session brought together a group of investors and finance professionals who shared practical guidance with CFA Pakistan cohort members on preparing their ventures for investment opportunities. Discussions focused on areas such as governance standards, developing a clear commercial case alongside the climate impact proposition and understanding the most suitable financing options based on different stages of business development.
The panel featured Ammar Habib Khan, CFA, FRM, representing National Credit Guarantee Company, Salman Ahmed, CFA, from Bank of Punjab, Kashmala Kakakhel from Climate Resource Coordination Centre, Sahar Etezaz from International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Sidra A. Dagha from Bank Alfalah. The speakers provided insights based on their experience in finance, investment and climate related initiatives, helping participants understand the expectations of investors and financial institutions. The discussion highlighted that investment readiness requires more than a strong climate objective, with organizations also needing effective governance structures, sustainable business models and a clear understanding of available financial instruments. The exchange allowed cohort members to learn how they can better position their solutions for potential investment opportunities and communicate their value proposition to financial stakeholders.
CFA Pakistan stated that the webinar was an important engagement opportunity for its cohort as participants continue preparing for the upcoming Investor Roadshow. The initiative is designed to support climate focused businesses by connecting them with investors, strengthening their financial readiness and encouraging the development of solutions that address environmental challenges. Through collaborations with organizations including British International Investment and DAI, CFA Pakistan continues working to build connections between climate entrepreneurs and the wider finance ecosystem. The organization thanked the participating investors and panelists for sharing their knowledge and supporting the cohort’s efforts to develop investment ready solutions focused on reducing carbon emissions. The webinar reflects the growing importance of climate finance discussions in Pakistan and the role of collaboration between entrepreneurs, investors and financial institutions in supporting sustainable development.
