Frequency Allocation Board (FAB) has announced a significant collaboration with TeReSol Pvt. Ltd., local partner of Germany’s LS Telcom AG, to deploy an advanced Automated Spectrum Management Software (ASMS) system in Pakistan. FAB, responsible for regulating and allocating the country’s radio frequency spectrum, manages resources for telecom operators, broadcasters, satellite services, IoT networks, WiFi, and both public and private communication systems. The ASMS deployment is a pivotal step in modernizing spectrum governance, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting Pakistan’s broader digital transformation initiatives.
The ASMS system will enable FAB to manage spectrum allocation with greater precision and speed. By automating workflows, the platform will streamline spectrum monitoring, improve decision-making, and facilitate accurate forecasting of future spectrum requirements. It will support interference-free use of national spectrum resources across diverse applications including short-range devices, device-to-device communication, non-terrestrial networks, and public protection and disaster relief services. The integration of ASMS is expected to enhance data-driven policies, optimize resource utilization, and strengthen the country’s ICT infrastructure.
LS Telcom AG, with operations in more than 100 countries, brings global expertise in spectrum management and network optimization to the project. Known for its work across all radio communication technologies, LS Telcom AG is a trusted partner for regulators and governments worldwide. Under the contract, TeReSol Pvt. Ltd. will handle installation, commissioning, data migration, and integration of ASMS at FAB headquarters in Islamabad. The system will also be linked to FAB’s radio monitoring stations in major cities, with deployment and transition projected to complete within 180 days.
This initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s Digital Vision of Pakistan, emphasizing technological innovation, e-governance, and digital inclusion. By modernizing spectrum management, FAB aims to support emerging technologies such as 5G, AI-based networks, IoT, and smart city solutions. The upgraded infrastructure is anticipated to enhance national spectrum efficiency, facilitate socio-economic growth, create job opportunities, and improve public service delivery. FAB’s efforts to implement data-driven spectrum governance are expected to reinforce Pakistan’s ICT and telecom sectors while laying the foundation for a connected and knowledge-based digital economy.
