Pakistan’s IT Arena Progressing At A Rapid Pace – World Economic Forum

The World Economic Forum recently published a report on Pakistan’s Digital Revolution that states that the country’s IT arena is progressing faster than one had originally thought.

Managing Director Financial Advisory Services, Ayla Majid, in the report states that the digital revolution in Pakistan is happening at a faster rate than expected. In the report, she lists the main reason behind the rapid expansion is the China’ Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), also known as China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The report also covers different aspects of how CPEC is transforming the digital landscape in Pakistan. Although CPEC was originally thought to be about the traditional infrastructure, like roads, railways and power station, a surprising amount of development is now being seen in the digital infrastructure of Pakistan, according to the report.

Prominent indicators for economic growth in Pakistan are also covered in the report. It is stated that Pakistan’s economy seems to be on an upward trend as the investor confidence has improved and an overall 5.8% economic growth has been observed.

Furthermore, the report also mentions that in order to continue with this stride, Pakistan needs to keep focusing on its digital side. One of the recommendations given is that Pakistan should keep on improving the skills and empower the people with the knowledge of entrepreneurship and digital tools.
