In a recent development for the automotive industry in Pakistan, Saqib H. Shirazi, the CEO of Atlas Honda motorcycles and Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HACL), has been elected as the new head of the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).
The announcement follows PAMA’s annual elections held on September 30, 2022, where members voted to appoint Shirazi as the new chairman. Joining him in key leadership positions are Masafumi Harano, managing director of Pak Suzuki Motors Company, and Sohail Bashir Rana, director of Millat Tractors, who were chosen as vice-chairmen.
This marks Shirazi’s third term as chairperson of PAMA, a testament to his leadership and industry expertise. He succeeds Lt. Gen (R.) Ali Kuli Khan Khattak, CEO of Ghandhara Nissan Limited (GNL), and Ali Asghar Jamali, chairman of Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC).
In his acceptance speech, Shirazi commended the outgoing chairman, Ahmad Kuli Khan Khattak, and pledged to prioritize the interests of all stakeholders, including original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), part manufacturers, dealers, and customers. He expressed gratitude to PAMA members for their trust and confidence in his leadership.
Abdul Waheed Khan, Director General of PAMA, lauded both Shirazi and Ahmad Kuli Khan for their contributions to the association. He emphasized the need for effective leadership during challenging economic times and endorsed Shirazi as the ideal candidate to steer PAMA forward.
As Saqib H. Shirazi assumes the chairmanship of PAMA, the industry looks forward to his stewardship in navigating the sector through current challenges and driving future growth.
