Aga Khan University Information and Communication Technology division hosted its ICT Townhall 2026 on Wednesday, April 29, bringing together a wide-ranging audience of professionals and stakeholders from across its global network. The event welcomed more than 180 participants in Karachi, alongside 54 attendees who joined virtually from multiple countries, reflecting the organization’s continued efforts to strengthen collaboration and engagement across regions. The gathering served as a platform for knowledge sharing, alignment on priorities, and open dialogue within the ICT community.
The session was hosted by Syedain R. PMP®, who guided the program with a structured and engaging approach, ensuring smooth transitions between segments and maintaining audience interest throughout. Senior ICT leadership shared detailed updates on organizational direction and operational progress. Among the speakers were Muhammad Fahd, Regional Director for ICT Pakistan, Afghanistan and UK, Tanveer Khan, Senior Manager at ICT Administration Office East Africa, Erum Gonsalves, Director of OneHealth and Electronic Health Records, and Shumail Usmani, Director of Global Data and Management Office. Their presentations provided insights into ongoing initiatives, evolving priorities, and the broader roadmap shaping ICT operations across regions. Discussions covered advancements in digital systems, data management strategies, and efforts to align technology services with institutional goals.
A key segment of the townhall featured a fireside chat focused on advancements in healthcare technology. The discussion brought together Shaukat Ali Khan FBCS, Advisor to the President for ICT, and Muhammad Fahd, offering perspectives on emerging trends, practical challenges, and opportunities within the healthcare technology space. The conversation explored how digital tools and systems are supporting improved patient care, operational efficiency, and data driven decision making. This segment stood out for its interactive format and relevance to ongoing developments in health focused ICT solutions.
The event also incorporated contributions from human resources representatives, including Amna Tanveer Malik, Palvashah Raqib, Rehman Ganny, and Rehma Dawood Shaikh. They shared updates on employee focused initiatives such as referral programs and strategies aimed at strengthening workforce engagement and empowerment. In addition, Miriam Kugele, Director of Office of Environment and Sustainability, highlighted collaborative efforts with ICT and HR through the ridesharing initiative. Her remarks emphasized the role of cross functional partnerships in promoting sustainability and optimizing resource utilization within the organization.
The townhall created an environment that encouraged interaction between ICT teams and senior leadership, allowing participants to ask questions, share feedback, and gain a clearer understanding of ongoing projects. By bringing together diverse perspectives from different regions and functions, the session reinforced the importance of communication and collaboration in supporting the organization’s technology landscape.
