Wateen Telecom Limited has announced a strategic partnership with Fongreen Silicon Techologies Ltd (FoST), the official zone developer of Foundation Renewable & Technology Zone (FRTZ) in Karachi, Sindh. Through this collaboration, Wateen will provide advanced digital infrastructure and intelligent surveillance services to support the development of the technology and renewable energy focused zone. The agreement reflects a shared commitment to building a connected environment capable of supporting industrial operations and emerging technology initiatives while ensuring reliable communications and security infrastructure across the development.
Under the partnership, Wateen will be responsible for designing, deploying, operating, and maintaining a fiber based Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) throughout the FoST zone. The GPON infrastructure is intended to provide high speed fiber connectivity capable of supporting the communication requirements of businesses, manufacturing facilities, and technology driven operations that will be established within Foundation Renewable & Technology Zone. FoST is developing FRTZ as a hub dedicated to renewable energy manufacturing and emerging technologies, making dependable digital connectivity a key component of the project’s long term vision. By implementing a fiber network across the zone, Wateen aims to provide the communication backbone required for efficient operations, scalable connectivity, and future digital services that can support the evolving needs of organizations operating within the technology ecosystem.
In addition to deploying the fiber network, Wateen will also supply, install, integrate, and commission a comprehensive CCTV and AI Vision Analytics solution at FoST’s premises. The solution combines modern surveillance infrastructure with artificial intelligence based video analytics to strengthen monitoring capabilities and improve operational visibility across the facility. As part of the agreement, Wateen will deliver round the clock monitoring, maintenance, and technical support for the complete duration of the partnership. The integrated approach is designed to ensure that both the communication infrastructure and the surveillance systems continue to operate efficiently while providing continuous support for daily operations. AI enabled video analytics can assist in monitoring activity, improving situational awareness, and enhancing the overall management of infrastructure within a technology focused environment.
