TMC Partners with HEC to Digitize 25 Universities Through Pakistan Digital Leap

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan marked a significant milestone in the country’s educational landscape by hosting the “Pakistan Digital Leap” event, aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of the higher education sector. TMC Pvt Ltd was recognized for its major contribution to this effort, particularly for implementing its locally developed platforms, Maktab ERP-SLCS and Al-Fihri Learning Management System (LMS), in 25 universities across the country. The event was held under HEC’s Higher Education Development Program (HEDP), a World Bank-supported initiative that seeks to modernize higher education for more than 6 million students nationwide.

The event was attended by vice chancellors, education policymakers, and corporate partners, all of whom witnessed the unveiling of new digital infrastructure designed to streamline academic operations and improve accessibility. In a display of innovation, HEC Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad made a virtual appearance as a holographic host, a first-of-its-kind presentation in Pakistan, symbolizing the shift toward technology-driven academic governance.

Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad emphasized the importance of technology in bridging the educational gap and increasing institutional efficiency. He noted that with the deployment of these digital solutions, Pakistani students and universities can now compete with institutions globally while also reducing administrative costs and increasing operational transparency.

Abdul Haseeb, CEO and Managing Director of TMC, shared his vision of inclusive and accessible education for all. He stated that the collaboration with HEC and the World Bank represents a major step toward building a resilient academic ecosystem based on locally engineered yet globally competitive technologies. According to Haseeb, the initiative will serve as a foundation for the long-term modernization of Pakistan’s higher education system.

TMC’s Maktab ERP-SLCS is designed to manage core administrative functions such as admissions, course registration, examinations, and student records through a unified digital system. Paired with the Al-Fihri LMS, universities are now equipped to deliver flexible, cloud-enabled learning environments that support students across campuses. These platforms not only reduce paper-based processes and operational costs but also increase scalability and accessibility, accommodating both on-site and remote learners. Security and data integrity are further ensured through integration with HEC’s Astrolabes data centers and the Jidar Network Security framework.

The Al-Fihri LMS, named in honor of Fatima Al-Fihri, who established the world’s oldest continuously operating university, reflects the fusion of historical educational values with modern digital tools. Its personalized learning features, adaptive assessments, and support for lifelong education make it suitable for a broad range of learners and academic programs.

The Pakistan Digital Leap initiative is part of a larger plan to establish a national digital education framework. This includes expanding connectivity through 7,000 kilometers of fiber optic infrastructure and deploying over 20,000 Wi-Fi access points across 96 higher education institutions. Smart classrooms and high-speed digital access are central to this effort, with the goal of providing students with world-class learning environments supported by cutting-edge technology.
