Systems Limited has highlighted its collaboration with Wafi Energy Pakistan, Shell Licensee to modernize the company’s enterprise technology landscape following its transition to an independent business. The project focused on reducing reliance on a previously established global technology ecosystem while building a more streamlined operating model centered on SAP S/4HANA. The transformation was designed to help Wafi Energy Pakistan strengthen local technology ownership, simplify enterprise operations, and maintain business continuity throughout the modernization process without disrupting day to day activities.
For more than 75 years, Wafi Energy Pakistan’s technology landscape had been supported through a global ecosystem consisting of infrastructure, hosting, networking, storage, disaster recovery, and specialist technology vendors. Following the company’s divestment, that long standing operating model no longer aligned with the requirements of an independent organization. As a result, the business sought to establish greater control over its technology environment while reducing dependencies on external global systems. At the same time, the organization planned to modernize its enterprise resource planning environment by transitioning from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA. Managing both objectives simultaneously required careful planning to ensure operational continuity while introducing a more efficient and locally managed technology framework capable of supporting future business operations.
Working alongside Wafi Energy Pakistan, Systems Limited addressed these challenges by helping simplify the surrounding technology environment and placing SAP S/4HANA at the center of the new operating model. The implementation focused on streamlining enterprise systems while enabling greater flexibility, improved management, and enhanced control over critical business applications. By reducing technology dependencies and modernizing the SAP environment, the project aimed to provide a stronger foundation for enterprise operations across the organization. The transformation also reflected the growing importance of localized technology management, allowing organizations to make operational decisions with greater independence while maintaining reliable access to enterprise systems that support finance, operations, supply chain, and other core business functions.
According to Systems Limited, the broader objective of the transformation extended beyond a technology upgrade and focused on providing Wafi Energy Pakistan with greater ownership of the systems supporting its business. By modernizing the enterprise landscape around SAP S/4HANA and simplifying supporting infrastructure, the collaboration demonstrates how organizations can adapt their technology strategies following major business transitions while maintaining operational stability. The case study also highlights the role of enterprise technology partners in helping organizations modernize legacy environments through structured digital transformation initiatives that improve efficiency, simplify technology management, and support long term business requirements. Additional details about the implementation have been shared by Systems Limited through its published case study, available at here.
