In a major stride towards modernizing its IT ecosystem, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has successfully completed its Data Centres Revamp Project, significantly upgrading the operational infrastructure at both its Primary Data Centre in Islamabad and the Disaster Recovery (DR) Centre in Lahore. This transformative initiative underscores SECP’s ongoing commitment to institutional digitization, enhanced system reliability, and future-ready operations.
To commemorate the project’s completion, a formal sign-off ceremony was held at the SECP Head Office in Islamabad. The event brought together key figures from the Commission, including Commissioner Information Systems and Technology Division (IS&TD), Mr. Zeeshan R. Khattak, and Executive Director IS&TD, Mr. Haseeb Sheikh. Also present were members of the Infrastructure and Network teams from the IS&T Department, alongside representatives from Silicon Technologies, SECP’s technology partner on the project.
The successful revamp marks a pivotal point in SECP’s IT strategy, reinforcing its capacity to deliver uninterrupted regulatory services while responding efficiently to growing digital demands. By upgrading both the Primary and Disaster Recovery data centres, SECP aims to ensure high system uptime, robust business continuity, and streamlined scalability to accommodate evolving regulatory workloads and digital applications.
The project involved critical enhancements to power and cooling systems, server hardware, storage architecture, network configurations, and disaster recovery protocols. As a result, SECP’s technology infrastructure is now better equipped to support energy-efficient operations, enhanced data processing, and secure interdepartmental connectivity, reducing potential downtime and future-proofing the Commission’s core systems.
The enhanced infrastructure also ensures that SECP can efficiently scale its digital services and adapt to new regulatory technology solutions (RegTech), ultimately improving stakeholder engagement and public service delivery. These efforts are in line with the Commission’s broader digital transformation roadmap and national objectives under Digital Pakistan.
Commissioner Zeeshan R. Khattak praised the efforts of both SECP’s internal IT teams and its implementation partner, Silicon Technologies. He emphasized that the completion of the data centre revamp is not just a technical achievement but a significant operational milestone that will support the Commission’s strategic objectives in the long term. He also noted that robust and modern data infrastructure is the foundation of any efficient regulatory body in today’s digital age.
This revamp represents a critical layer of resilience and reliability in SECP’s technology backbone, ensuring that the Commission is prepared to handle growing volumes of digital regulatory activity and provide seamless services across Pakistan’s corporate and financial sectors.
With its data centres now fully modernized, the SECP is well-positioned to harness advanced technologies and deliver on its mission of efficient, transparent, and digitally-enabled regulation. The Commission’s successful execution of this project further cements its role as a leading force in driving public sector innovation and infrastructure modernization in the country.
