Brigadier Rana Farrukh Saleem, Secretary of the National Telecommunication and Information Security Board (NTISB), paid an official visit to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) to discuss cybersecurity collaboration and digital infrastructure enhancement. He was received by Mr. Mujtaba Ahmad Lodhi, Commissioner of the Information Security Department (ISD) at SECP, who led a briefing session highlighting the commission’s ongoing reforms and strategic plans to further strengthen its cybersecurity framework.
During the visit, the ISD team shared updates on SECP’s current digital security architecture, recent policy interventions, and forward-looking initiatives aimed at bolstering resilience against cyber threats. These initiatives are part of a broader institutional roadmap to upgrade the Commission’s internal systems and safeguard sensitive regulatory data through advanced information security protocols. The discussion focused on how these efforts align with national objectives for cyber safety and the adoption of international best practices in data protection and threat response.
Secretary NTISB appreciated the progress made by SECP in modernizing its cybersecurity operations. He acknowledged the readiness and response demonstrated by SECP’s Emergency Response Team during recent digital challenges and commended their proactive stance in addressing potential vulnerabilities. His remarks emphasized the importance of institutional preparedness and cross-agency collaboration in ensuring a secure and stable regulatory environment.
Brig. Rana Farrukh Saleem also assured SECP of NTISB’s support in facilitating joint cybersecurity training sessions aimed at knowledge exchange and capacity building. These trainings are expected to enhance coordination between federal cybersecurity bodies and regulatory institutions, ensuring a unified response to emerging digital threats. The dialogue underlined the shared responsibility of public sector entities in developing comprehensive defense strategies and fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness.
The engagement reflects a growing recognition of cybersecurity as a national priority, where regulatory institutions like SECP play a crucial role in maintaining trust, protecting digital operations, and contributing to the wider security ecosystem. Strengthening partnerships between NTISB and regulatory bodies such as SECP enables the development of robust governance frameworks that can adapt to evolving cyber risks and emerging technological challenges.
The visit concluded with a commitment from both sides to continue dialogue and operational coordination in matters related to information security and national cyber defense. Through such high-level exchanges, institutions are laying the groundwork for a more secure and digitally resilient public infrastructure.
