Public Cloud Adoption Soars in Asia & Pakistan: Cost Savings, Agility Drive Growth

Published:

Public cloud computing is rapidly gaining traction in Asia and Pakistan, fueled by its ability to offer businesses significant advantages like cost savings, scalability, and increased agility.

Umair Azam, Founder and CEO of Integration Xperts, emphasizes the growing importance of a “cloud mindset” in an interview with The Express Tribune. This approach prioritizes cloud-based solutions over traditional IT infrastructure, enabling businesses to adapt more readily to evolving market demands.

Market research data paints a clear picture of this regional shift. According to IDC, public cloud spending in Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan) is projected to reach a staggering $124.5 billion by 2024, reflecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25.5% from 2019. Similarly, Gartner predicts a 23.7% growth in the public cloud services market across Asia-Pacific in 2021, reaching $124.6 billion, up from $100.8 billion the prior year.

Pakistan mirrors this regional trend. Allied Market Research forecasts the country’s cloud computing market to reach $1.5 billion by 2023, with a CAGR of 19.1% from 2017.

“These figures underline the growing significance of public cloud for businesses in Asia and Pakistan,” says Azam. “As they embrace digital transformation, they recognize the power of cloud computing to enhance competitiveness and drive growth.”

One of the key benefits of cloud computing is the ability to rapidly scale resources up or down to meet fluctuating demand.  An IDC study revealed that organizations leveraging cloud solutions can manage 2.5 times more application workloads compared to those using traditional IT infrastructure.

Security concerns are a common consideration when discussing public cloud adoption. However, Azam cites a Forrester Research report indicating that 80% of security breaches involving public cloud infrastructure stem from customer misconfiguration or errors.

“This highlights that while cloud providers implement robust security measures, organizations also hold responsibility for securing their data in the cloud,” he adds.

In conclusion, public cloud services offer undeniable advantages for businesses in Asia and Pakistan. They empower organizations to innovate, collaborate, and scale with ease, all while reducing costs and improving security and reliability. The pay-as-you-go model and on-demand resource scaling capabilities of public cloud make it a compelling choice compared to private cloud solutions, which require significant upfront investments in infrastructure and ongoing maintenance.
