Phishing Scam Alert: Fake Salary Deduction Targets Govt. for “Earthquake Relief”

Published:

Cabinet Division has issued a cybersecurity alert regarding a phishing attack targeting government and military personnel. Scammers are impersonating the Ministry of Finance by sending emails claiming a mandatory two-day salary deduction for a “Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Donation” for earthquake-affected Turkey and Syria.

These emails are fake and designed to steal personal or financial information. They may contain malware that infects devices or networks upon clicking malicious links.

The Cabinet Division urges government officials and military personnel to remain vigilant and avoid opening suspicious emails, especially those related to salary deductions. Additionally, it advises organizations to block the website “hxxps://finance.webserviceandsupportsection.com” to prevent potential cyberattacks.

The advisory has been distributed to various government bodies, including the Prime Minister’s Office, President’s Office, and all federal and provincial departments. It instructs department heads to disseminate the information and ensure necessary security measures are in place.
