In a strategic virtual meeting, senior officials from Pakistan’s Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chinese executives explored potential collaborations in the fields of big data and the establishment of Tier-Four Data Centres in Pakistan. The meeting, aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s digital infrastructure, featured prominent Chinese companies alongside CDA’s acting Chairman Talat Mehmood Gondal and Member Technology and Digitalization Nauman Khalid, according to Gwadar Pro.
Talat Mehmood Gondal emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to advancing its digital economy, welcoming Chinese investments to drive this growth. “Pakistan’s digital transformation offers immense opportunities, particularly in big data and digitalization. A collaboration with China would position the country as a regional leader in big data innovation,” Gondal remarked in a news release.
Nauman Khalid further elaborated on the potential for collaboration, stating,
“We see significant opportunities to bring cutting-edge technology and expertise from China to Pakistan. This partnership will greatly boost Pakistan’s digital economy.”
Chinese executives expressed strong interest in supporting Pakistan’s digital initiatives, offering their expertise in big data systems and Tier-Four Data Centre development. Officials from Guizhou, China, presented their capabilities, reaffirming China’s readiness to invest in Pakistan’s growing digital sector.
Both parties agreed to advance discussions, with Chinese representatives set to submit formal collaboration proposals. A draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be prepared and shared through Pakistan’s Foreign Office, establishing a framework for long-term cooperation. The MoU will focus on enhancing Pakistan’s digital infrastructure and fostering innovation in the big data domain.
This partnership is poised to be a pivotal step in Pakistan’s journey toward becoming a hub for digital innovation and big data technology, significantly boosting the country’s standing in the global digital economy.
