Novacare Hospital Islamabad hosted a webinar titled “Beyond Paperwork: How Innovation Will Transform the Patient Experience” on 5 November 2026 as part of Digital Health Week 2026, bringing together healthcare professionals, technology leaders and representatives from the health sector to discuss the role of digital innovation in improving patient care. Held online through Microsoft Teams, the session explored how healthcare systems can move beyond paper-based processes and adopt technology that places patients at the centre of care delivery. The discussion focused on the potential of digital records, remote patient monitoring, artificial intelligence and connected healthcare platforms to improve clinical insight, continuity of care and patient experiences. The webinar was opened by Novacare CEO Johannes Kedzierski, who shared a personal perspective on the importance of using technology to improve healthcare outcomes. He emphasized that digital tools can help clinicians identify information that might otherwise be overlooked, highlighting the responsibility to make such insights available to support patients. His central message was that no patient should suffer because of a lack of insight, reinforcing the importance of adopting technologies that can strengthen clinical decision-making.
Novacare Chief Medical Officer Dr. Javed Raza discussed the transition from paper-based healthcare environments to digitally connected systems, drawing on examples from the National Health Service in the United Kingdom and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, alongside national healthcare developments in England, Estonia and the United Arab Emirates. He described how digital transformation can help healthcare providers shift from system-centred processes towards patient-centred care, where medical information can follow individuals across different stages of treatment and care can increasingly extend beyond hospital facilities into patients’ homes. His presentation emphasized the importance of connected patient records and coordinated healthcare services, with technology serving as a means of improving the overall patient journey rather than becoming the primary focus. Dr. Raza summarized this approach by stating, “Technology is the tool. The patient is the point.” Dr. Zakiuddin Ahmed, CEO of Digital Care and a pioneer of telemedicine in Pakistan for more than 27 years, presented the concept of “Homespital,” focusing on remote patient monitoring and the potential to bring aspects of hospital-level care into the home. He explained how continuous monitoring can support a shift away from periodic and reactive healthcare towards a more proactive model, particularly for people managing chronic conditions. The discussion highlighted how remote monitoring technologies can help healthcare teams maintain visibility into patients’ health between conventional appointments and support more continuous care outside hospital settings.
The webinar also featured a panel discussion moderated by Ghalib Hafiz, Founding Partner of Andalus Holdings, bringing together representatives from health coverage, health data, technology, patient operations and hospital information systems. The panel included Muhammad Arshad, CEO of the Prime Minister Sehat Card; Haznirul Jaafar from IQVIA; Umair Munir, CEO of EEN Group; Ruairi Tubrid, COO and Founder of HealthStay.io; Shakeel Akhter, Chief Information Officer at Novacare; and Mustafa Hassan, Director at Andalus Holdings. Their participation brought different perspectives to the discussion on how digital healthcare solutions can be developed and integrated across the wider healthcare ecosystem. The panel’s composition reflected the involvement of public health programmes, international health data expertise, technology providers and hospital leadership in shaping the future of patient services. Topics raised throughout the session centred on the need to connect healthcare systems, improve access to relevant patient information and use digital platforms to support more coordinated services. By bringing these perspectives together, the discussion addressed the practical considerations involved in moving towards a healthcare model that is more responsive to patients and less dependent on fragmented administrative processes.
The webinar was organized and hosted by Dr. Hooria Javed Choudry, Product Manager for Digital Health and Patient Platforms at Novacare Hospitals, who brings a decade of experience in digital health. The session formed part of the hospital’s participation in Digital Health Week 2026, which ran from 2 to 8 November under the theme “Coordinate, Act, Accelerate.” Novacare acknowledged the contributions of its partners, including IQVIA, EEN, HealthStay.io, Digital Care, Andalus Holdings and the Sehat Sahulat Program, also known as the Prime Minister’s National Health Program. Their involvement reflected the collaboration between healthcare institutions, technology organizations and health-sector stakeholders in advancing digital health initiatives. Through the webinar, Novacare highlighted the importance of designing healthcare services around patient needs and using technology to support better access to information, continuity of care and clinical insight. The discussion reinforced a central message: digital transformation in healthcare is not simply about replacing paperwork with electronic systems, but about using connected technologies and coordinated services to improve the experience of patients throughout their care journey.
