NECOP and STZA Team Up to Supercharge Pakistan’s Tech Sector

In a move to propel Pakistan’s tech industry forward, the National Electronics Complex of Pakistan (NECOP) and the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This strategic collaboration focuses on accelerating growth in key areas like semiconductor IC design, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.

The MoU signing ceremony, held at STZA headquarters, marked the official launch of this collaborative effort. Dr. Sajid Baloch, Director General of NECOP, and Javaid Iqbal, Chief Commercial Officer and Member of STZA, signed the agreement, solidifying their commitment to working together.

This agreement extends beyond joint research initiatives. It outlines collaborative efforts like seminars, training programs, and other events designed to strengthen and integrate Pakistan’s tech ecosystem. Notably, both NECOP and STZA pledge to actively support domestic tech companies, startups, and organizations within the sector. This includes identifying and eliminating roadblocks that hinder their growth potential.

Officials from both organizations attended the ceremony, signifying their unwavering commitment to empowering Pakistani entities focused on emerging technologies. This collaboration aims to foster a thriving tech landscape that fuels innovation-driven economic growth for the nation.

STZA, established by the Pakistani government, plays a key role in propelling the country’s tech sector. It acts as a state-backed authority, providing world-class infrastructure, along with regulatory and fiscal incentives within designated Special Technology Zones (STZs) across the country. The Prime Minister holds the position of President on the STZA Board of Governors (BoG), underscoring the government’s commitment to this initiative.

With this MoU in place, NECOP and STZA are poised to create a dynamic environment that fosters cutting-edge research, empowers Pakistani tech companies, and ultimately positions Pakistan as a major player in the global tech arena.
