In a significant move to bolster Pakistan’s cybersecurity capabilities, the National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) and the Center of Pakistan and International Relations (COPAIR Islamabad) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The formal signing ceremony took place at the National CERT Headquarters in Islamabad, with Director General National CERT, Dr. Haider Abbas, and COPAIR President, Dr. Amna Munawwar Awan, leading the event.
The partnership is strategically focused on addressing the ever-evolving cyber threats that Pakistan faces, with an emphasis on leveraging advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Quantum Computing for cyber intelligence. This collaboration aims to enhance the nation’s cyber threat detection and response mechanisms, ultimately creating a more secure digital ecosystem.
One of the key initiatives under this partnership is the training of Cyber Security Scouts in Digital Media Literacy. The program is designed to equip the next generation with essential cybersecurity skills, fostering a culture of cyber awareness from a young age. In addition, both organizations plan to produce joint publications and educational resources, tailored specifically for children and youth, to highlight the importance of cybersecurity in everyday life.
The MoU also outlines the establishment of a Dialogue Forum, which will serve as a platform for continuous discussions on cybersecurity policies, emerging threats, and the regulatory landscape. This forum will facilitate critical conversations and collaboration between policymakers, industry leaders, and cybersecurity experts.
This partnership marks a major milestone in Pakistan’s efforts to secure its digital infrastructure, ensuring resilience against future cyber threats and positioning the country to effectively safeguard its digital future.
