MiTE conducted a faculty development workshop titled “GEN-AI for Educators” on July 23, 2025, aimed at preparing educators to effectively incorporate artificial intelligence into teaching practices. The session focused on using AI as an augmentative tool to enrich the learning experience, rather than as a replacement for educators. This approach reflects a growing understanding in the academic community that generative AI can be a meaningful ally in reimagining instructional methods and curriculum design.
The workshop encouraged participants to critically assess the role of generative AI tools in education and to explore how such technologies can support rather than disrupt the teacher-student dynamic. Faculty members were introduced to practical ways AI can assist in automating routine administrative tasks, personalizing student learning pathways, enhancing feedback mechanisms, and expanding content creation for diverse learning styles. These applications demonstrate how AI, when used with clear pedagogical intent, can improve both teaching efficiency and learner engagement.
The event created an interactive environment for educators to test tools, discuss ethical considerations, and reflect on how AI can align with their institutional goals. A significant theme throughout the workshop was the need to maintain the human connection in education. The organizers emphasized that while AI can handle repetitive or data-driven components of instruction, the role of the educator remains central to fostering critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and meaningful relationships in the classroom.
Participants responded positively to the workshop’s hands-on approach, noting how it demystified emerging AI technologies and provided realistic use cases relevant to the academic setting. Many educators expressed that the session shifted their perspective from apprehension to curiosity and experimentation. By exploring AI through the lens of enhancement rather than replacement, the workshop aimed to reduce resistance and inspire confidence among faculty members.
The faculty development initiative is part of MiTE’s broader commitment to integrating innovation into education and preparing teaching professionals for a technology-rich learning environment. As institutions face evolving student needs and rapid technological change, capacity-building efforts like these ensure that educators remain at the center of educational transformation, equipped with the tools and mindset to lead effectively.
Through sessions like “GEN-AI for Educators,” MiTE is fostering a community of educators who are not only aware of the tools available to them but are also prepared to use them responsibly and creatively. The workshop reflects a strategic step toward cultivating digitally competent faculty who can guide their institutions in developing forward-looking, inclusive, and adaptive learning environments.
