Ignite’s Annual Cybersecurity Challenge Adds Blue Team Hackathon

Published:

This year’s Cybersecurity Hackathon by Ignite, MoITT (Ministry of IT & Telecommunication) is set to be bigger and better with the addition of the “Blue Team Hackathon,” a new competition tailored specifically for cybersecurity professionals from key sectors across Pakistan. Following the success of the “Red Team Hackathon,” this separate competition will take place on the second day of each event in six major cities: Karachi, Quetta, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, and Islamabad.

The “Blue Team Hackathon” is designed to engage teams from a variety of industries, including banks, telecom companies, government organizations, hospitals, and universities, as well as individual cybersecurity enthusiasts. It offers a platform for these professionals to demonstrate their skills in defending against cyber threats and responding to real-time security challenges.

Key organizations, including Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), and others, have already been invited to participate through official letters from the National CERT (NCERT).

The invitation has also been extended to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), National Information Technology Board (NITB), and Provincial Designated CERTs.

With cybersecurity becoming an increasingly critical issue, this competition provides a valuable opportunity for industry professionals to showcase their defensive skills and collaborate on innovative solutions. Participants in the “Blue Team Hackathon” will face simulated attacks and will need to work together to mitigate threats, enhance their cybersecurity strategies, and improve resilience.

Interested teams and individuals have until October 5, 2024, to register for the event via the official Cybersecurity Hackathon website. For more details and to register, visit: Cybersecurity Hackathon
