Huawei Pakistan, in collaboration with EZY Technologies and Infotech, hosted a successful IT Day event in Lahore, focusing on combating cyber threats and safeguarding user data. The event emphasized the crucial role of keeping pace with advancements in IT to address the evolving challenges faced by businesses today.

Discussions at the event highlighted the growing menace of ransomware, a type of malware that encrypts or steals data, crippling systems and rendering them unusable. Speakers warned of increasingly sophisticated strains that can bypass traditional antivirus software. This escalating threat has made ransomware a top cybersecurity concern, with global damages reaching a staggering $20 billion in 2021.

Huawei emphasized the paramount importance of data security.  Mr. Babar Haq, CTO of Huawei Middle East, underscored the value of data as the “new crude oil,” necessitating robust storage solutions for real-time and big data applications. He advocated for data-centric secure storage systems equipped with comprehensive ransomware protection.
