Google Cloud And AI Subscription Gets Cheaper With Double Storage And Expanded Gemini Features

Published:

Google is making its AI subscription more affordable as it reduces the price of its AI Plus plan while simultaneously expanding storage and adding new artificial intelligence features across its ecosystem. The updated plan reflects Google’s continued push to broaden access to its Gemini based tools while positioning AI Plus as a lower cost entry point for advanced AI capabilities. According to information shared by Vikas Kansal, product lead for Gemini AI subscriptions, the revised pricing and feature expansion are now rolling out across users, with some regions receiving updates sooner than others.

The most notable change is the price reduction of the AI Plus plan, which now costs 5 dollars per month instead of the earlier 8 dollars. Alongside the lower monthly fee, Google has doubled cloud storage allocation from 200GB to 400GB, making the subscription more attractive for users who rely heavily on Google services for file storage, backups, and cross device access. The rollout is gradual, and existing subscribers will see the updated pricing reflected on their next billing cycle, while the additional storage is expected to appear within a few days of the update reaching their account. Google is positioning this adjustment as part of a broader effort to increase adoption of its AI ecosystem following recent announcements at Google I/O 2026.

Beyond pricing and storage changes, the AI Plus subscription now includes a wider range of artificial intelligence capabilities integrated across Google products. The plan originally launched in January as a more affordable alternative to higher tier AI subscriptions, offering access to Gemini 3 Pro, Nano Banana Pro, and Deep Research, which were previously limited to more expensive plans. Users also received access to AI filmmaking tools in Flow, research and writing assistance in NotebookLM, and integration across Gemini apps with controlled usage limits compared to premium tiers. The latest update expands these capabilities further by introducing AI powered email tools, a Daily Brief agent inside the Gemini app, and access to Gemini Omni, which focuses on generating video content from multiple input formats. Additional improvements include a larger context window of 128,000 tokens, scheduled actions, expanded NotebookLM limits, and enhanced access to tools such as Proofread and AI Inbox in Gmail, along with broader availability in AI Studio and Antigravity.

The updated plan also strengthens its position within Google’s subscription hierarchy by offering higher usage limits than the free tier while remaining significantly cheaper than premium alternatives. Features such as Omni Flash video generation and deeper integration into productivity tools like Gmail and NotebookLM indicate Google’s strategy of embedding AI across everyday workflows rather than limiting it to standalone applications. Family sharing support for up to five additional users continues to be part of the plan, further increasing its value proposition for households and small teams. While the price cut and feature expansion have been confirmed, availability in regions such as Pakistan has not fully rolled out yet, though similar updates are expected to follow based on Google’s typical global deployment patterns.

Existing subscribers will benefit automatically from both the increased storage and reduced pricing without needing to switch plans. The storage upgrade is being gradually activated over the coming days, while billing adjustments will apply at the next renewal cycle. As Google continues refining its AI subscription ecosystem, the AI Plus plan is increasingly positioned as its most accessible paid tier, combining cloud storage, productivity enhancements, and generative AI tools in a single offering aimed at mainstream users rather than enterprise customers.
