Artificial intelligence is set to play a central role in the future of Pakistan’s banking industry, with industry experts describing it as an important pathway toward expanding financial inclusion and improving governance across the financial sector. Speaking at the Future Banking Forum, Arif Siddique Khokhar, Federated GRC Advisor at TransVare Corporation, shared his perspective on how AI powered governance, risk and compliance technologies can support a country of more than 250 million people with a median age of 23 while also contributing to broader sustainable development goals. During his presentation, Khokhar emphasized that AI is becoming an essential component of banking transformation by enabling financial institutions to improve operational efficiency, strengthen oversight and deliver better services through secure and intelligent digital platforms.
During his session on the digital transformation of Audit, Governance, Risk and Compliance in banking, Khokhar demonstrated how the TransVare Federated GRC Platform integrates audit, risk, controls, compliance, incidents and remediation into a single secure and traceable environment. He explained that bringing these critical functions together allows financial institutions to improve coordination while maintaining stronger visibility across governance processes. Separately, influential Pakistani Saudi entrepreneur Muhammad Ghazali Aqeeq also shared his optimism regarding the future of Pakistan’s financial sector, expressing confidence that the country’s capabilities and expertise in artificial intelligence can support significant progress in banking and financial services. The discussions at the forum highlighted how AI is increasingly being viewed as a strategic technology for improving governance, enhancing audit effectiveness and expanding financial inclusion while supporting the ongoing digital transformation of Pakistan’s banking ecosystem.
