In a move aimed at restructuring and reforming operations, the federal government has decided to transfer the Web-based One Custom (WeBOC) system of Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) to the Pakistan Single Window (PSW). This decision, made under the umbrella of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), marks a pivotal step in streamlining processes and enhancing efficiency.

A consensus has been reached on the transfer procedure, with the PSW governing council urging the FBR to ensure seamless cooperation from PRAL in granting immediate access to the WeBOC system. Documents obtained by daily Express reveal that Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed Tunio, FBR’s Member Information Technology, has officially issued a circular outlining the transfer plan, emphasizing the immediate nature of the transition.

Under the agreement, PRAL will provide access to the WeBOC system along with its development and business intelligence sources code. Furthermore, cooperation between the PSW CEO, PRAL CEO, and director general reforms and automation is mandated to facilitate the smooth transfer process. Weekly meetings will be held to address any obstacles encountered during the transition.

Responsibilities for application deployment and database management will fall under PRAL’s purview, with the organization committed to providing comprehensive support, including network infrastructure, user assistance, and operational oversight. Additionally, personnel stationed at Karachi will work under the PSW while remaining on PRAL’s payroll, ensuring continuity and expertise in software development and system management.

This strategic initiative underscores the government’s commitment to modernizing customs operations and promoting efficiency in trade facilitation. Stay updated on further developments by following Business on Facebook and @TribuneBiz on Twitter. Join the conversation and stay informed!
