Edarat Secures AI Data Center Contract to Support Saudi Infrastructure Expansion

Published:

Saudi Arabia continues to expand its digital infrastructure with another major artificial intelligence data center project, reinforcing the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting AI adoption and cloud based services through large scale investment. Saudi listed Edarat Communication and Information Technology has secured a SAR 197.8 million contract from Al Moammar Information System (MIS) to provide design, construction supervision, testing and commissioning services for a new AI data center with a planned capacity of 200 MW. The contract reflects the country’s ongoing focus on building high capacity digital infrastructure capable of supporting next generation enterprise workloads while strengthening Saudi Arabia’s position as a regional technology hub. The latest project follows another AI data center contract awarded to Edarat by MIS in March, valued at SAR 72.4 million, which covered similar engineering, testing and commissioning services for AI infrastructure.

The new agreement significantly expands Saudi Arabia’s growing pipeline of AI focused data center developments. With an additional planned capacity of 200 MW, the latest project complements a series of large investments already announced across the Kingdom. MIS previously revealed plans to invest USD 1.2 billion to expand its data center portfolio to 192 MW, while NHC Innovation committed USD 880 million toward the development of a 65 MW facility at Khuzam Digital Valley. At the same time, Humain and DataVolt have started construction on the first 100 MW phase of DataVolt’s planned 1.5 GW Oxagon campus, demonstrating continued momentum in the country’s digital infrastructure strategy. These developments highlight Saudi Arabia’s emphasis on creating advanced computing capacity capable of supporting artificial intelligence, cloud services and high performance enterprise applications as demand for digital processing continues to grow across both public and private sectors.

The expansion of data center capacity reflects a broader national effort to establish resilient infrastructure that can accommodate future technology requirements while supporting digital transformation initiatives. High capacity AI data centers play a critical role in enabling artificial intelligence model training, cloud computing, data analytics and enterprise applications that require significant computing power and reliable connectivity. As organisations continue adopting artificial intelligence across industries, demand for scalable infrastructure is expected to increase, making investments in modern facilities increasingly important. By strengthening engineering capabilities and supporting complex infrastructure projects, companies such as Edarat are contributing to the development of technology environments that provide greater operational resilience and long term scalability. The collaboration between Edarat and MIS also demonstrates the increasing importance of partnerships between technology service providers and infrastructure developers in delivering large scale digital projects across Saudi Arabia.

The latest contract further reinforces Saudi Arabia’s ambition to build a strong foundation for artificial intelligence driven economic growth through continued investment in advanced technology infrastructure. As new projects move from planning to implementation, the Kingdom is expanding its ability to host high performance computing workloads while supporting innovation across government and enterprise sectors. The combination of large scale investment, cloud infrastructure development and AI focused facilities reflects a coordinated effort to create a flexible and future ready digital ecosystem capable of meeting increasing demand for data processing and intelligent applications. Edarat’s latest award represents another milestone in this broader strategy, adding substantial capacity to Saudi Arabia’s rapidly expanding data center landscape while supporting the country’s long term digital transformation objectives.
