Lahore, Pakistan – Dr. Haider Abbas (TI), Director General of the National Computer Emergency Response Team (National CERT), recently delivered an insightful lecture at the National School of Public Policy (NSPP) in Lahore, where he addressed senior government officials on the evolving cybersecurity threat landscape and the critical countermeasures needed to safeguard Pakistan’s digital infrastructure.
The session brought together top-tier officials from Pakistan’s most critical public service sectors, including the Pakistan Administrative Service, Police Service of Pakistan, Pakistan Customs Service, Inland Revenue Service, Pakistan Audit and Account Service, Foreign Service of Pakistan, and representatives from federal, provincial, and departmental services. Dr. Abbas’s presentation stressed the immediate need for enhanced cybersecurity preparedness across these key government agencies, given the increasingly complex nature of global cyber threats.
During the lecture, Dr. Abbas provided a comprehensive overview of the emerging cyber threat landscape, focusing on advanced threat detection, inter-organizational collaboration, and the deployment of robust cyber defense strategies. He highlighted the growing sophistication of cyberattacks targeting critical national infrastructure and emphasized the importance of adopting stringent cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive government data and ensure national security.
National CERT continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening Pakistan’s cybersecurity resilience, supporting government bodies in building robust, proactive measures to counter potential attacks.
