Dell Technologies, Firebird AI, and NVIDIA have announced the launch of enterprise grade sovereign AI infrastructure in Armenia, marking an important step in expanding artificial intelligence computing capabilities in the region. The new AI cluster has been brought online in Hrazdan and is powered by Dell PowerRack infrastructure featuring Dell PowerEdge servers equipped with NVIDIA Blackwell graphics processing units. According to Dell Technologies, the initiative is designed to support organizations and researchers working in life sciences, robotics, space technology, and other compute intensive sectors by providing access to advanced AI resources closer to where innovation is taking place.
The project is supported by a first phase investment of $500 million and represents the beginning of a larger AI infrastructure strategy in Armenia. Dell Technologies stated that a third expansion has already been approved, which will increase the platform to more than 400 megawatts of AI infrastructure capacity. Once completed, the facility is expected to become one of Europe’s largest AI infrastructures and one of the world’s significant AI computing hubs. The company explained that as artificial intelligence becomes increasingly important across industries, countries and regions require trusted and high performance infrastructure that enables them to utilize local data, support domestic innovation, and generate economic value through AI technologies. Dell Technologies said its role extends beyond supplying hardware by helping organizations design, build, and operate AI infrastructure using its technology portfolio, technical expertise, and partner ecosystem.
The collaboration between Dell Technologies and Firebird AI began in November last year when Firebird AI announced that it would deploy Dell PowerEdge high performance AI servers together with NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs to establish advanced AI computing capabilities in Armenia. Since then, both companies have worked on deploying the systems in Hrazdan, resulting in an AI cluster capable of supporting demanding workloads across multiple industries. Dell noted that its PowerEdge XE servers are specifically designed for artificial intelligence applications, delivering the processing performance required for large scale model training, fine tuning, and inference. The infrastructure is intended to provide researchers, developers, and technology companies with enterprise grade computing resources that can accelerate work in areas including drug discovery, materials research, autonomous systems, robotics, satellite data processing, and space technologies. By offering these capabilities locally, organizations can reduce reliance on expensive hyperscale cloud computing services while gaining access to dedicated AI infrastructure within the region.
Dell Technologies stated that the Armenia project demonstrates how collaboration between technology providers, industry partners, and government support can help establish sovereign AI capabilities. Firebird AI contributed the project vision while Dell Technologies and NVIDIA supplied the computing infrastructure needed to deploy the platform. Government support also played a role in enabling the project to move forward, helping create the conditions required for implementation. Dell emphasized that many countries are now seeking to build AI capabilities that align with their own data, talent, and national priorities, making regional AI infrastructure increasingly important. Through projects such as the Hrazdan AI cluster, Dell Technologies continues to provide the infrastructure, expertise, and services required to help organizations transition AI initiatives from planning into operational deployment while supporting innovation across scientific research, advanced manufacturing, robotics, and emerging technology sectors.
