Crucial Agenda for IT & Telecom in 7th SIFC Meeting

In the upcoming 7th meeting of the apex committee of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), five crucial agenda points pertaining to the Ministry of IT & Telecom are set to take center stage. Scheduled to convene on Thursday at the Prime Minister’s House, the significant gathering will be presided over by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar.

As disclosed in documents obtained by ProPakistani, the focal points related to the Ministry of IT and Telecom encompass updates on the National Cloud Policy and the establishment of Cloud Infrastructure. Additionally, the meeting will delve into discussions regarding the potential investment by the Universal Service Fund.

A pivotal matter to be addressed during the meeting is the protracted issue concerning the return of USF & ICT R&D Funds to the Ministry of IT and Telecom. The apex committee of SIFC has mandated the Ministry to provide insights into the formulation of Space Policy and Rules. Furthermore, a briefing on the outcomes of the recent Saudi visit is also on the agenda.

Expanding the scope of discussions, the Special Investment Facilitation Council has sought the involvement of the State Bank of Pakistan. The bank is expected to present a briefing on the repercussions of enhancing export proceeds and retention limits for IT companies. Moreover, the State Bank has been tasked with updating media campaigns related to IT initiatives undertaken by SBP.
