Cloudflare has announced the launch of Cloudflare OS, an open source artificial intelligence agent workspace designed to help enterprise employees create, customize, and share AI powered applications using their organization’s internal knowledge and systems. The browser based platform is intended to give employees the ability to build microapps and automate workflows without depending on information technology departments or software development teams. According to Cloudflare, the platform was developed to overcome a common limitation found in many enterprise AI tools, which often lack an understanding of how individual organizations operate, including their internal knowledge, processes, and business structures. By allowing employees to create tools tailored to their daily work, Cloudflare aims to make artificial intelligence more practical and accessible across organizations.
Cloudflare OS enables employees to develop customized workflows from the first day of deployment by connecting the platform to internal company systems and knowledge repositories. Users can create microapps designed for specific tasks and share them with colleagues across the organization to improve collaboration and operational efficiency. The platform also supports research activities, document creation linked to real time organizational data, and automated workflows that reduce manual processes. Cloudflare stated that these capabilities allow employees to solve business challenges independently without waiting for technical teams to develop dedicated software solutions. Each microapp created through Cloudflare OS can include its own database, real time functionality, and access controls, allowing organizations to build applications that meet specific operational requirements while maintaining flexibility across different departments.
Security and administrative controls are central components of the new platform. Cloudflare OS uses Cloudflare Access to verify every user and every request before granting access to enterprise resources, helping organizations maintain secure access to internal information. The platform also integrates with Cloudflare AI Gateway, allowing businesses to connect with their preferred artificial intelligence model providers instead of relying on a single AI service. This approach enables organizations to select different AI models based on workload requirements while maintaining centralized oversight. Administrators can monitor AI token consumption and associated costs across individual employees, teams, and applications. They can also establish spending budgets and rate limits to better manage artificial intelligence usage within the organization. Cloudflare further explained that Cloudflare OS is capable of assigning different AI models according to task complexity, directing simple workloads to smaller models while routing more advanced reasoning tasks to higher performance models.
Cloudflare co founder and Chief Executive Officer Matthew Prince said the company has already adopted Cloudflare OS as its own internal operating platform. According to Prince, the platform represents how Cloudflare manages its own workflows and daily operations. He stated that artificial intelligence must move beyond isolated systems and development bottlenecks if it is to deliver meaningful value for businesses. Prince emphasized that employees should have the ability to safely build, improve, and automate their own workflows while working within secure enterprise environments. With Cloudflare OS, the company is introducing an open source platform that combines workflow automation, enterprise knowledge integration, customizable microapps, AI model flexibility, and security controls into a single environment. The launch reflects the growing demand for enterprise AI platforms that enable organizations to integrate artificial intelligence into everyday business operations while providing employees with greater independence to develop solutions tailored to their own work processes.
