Cabinet Division has issued a warning about renewed attempts by hackers to steal data from government employees through fraudulent emails. According to the division, hacker groups are targeting government agencies and officials by sending fake security advisories and emails related to Eid holidays, aiming to extract user information.
These deceptive emails masquerade as security advisories and contain malicious attachments. They are sent from fake accounts that impersonate the Assistant Secretary of the National Telecommunication and Information Security Board (NTISB-II). The phishing emails often come with attachments labeled “Eid Holiday Cabinet Division Press.docx”.
The Cabinet Division has urged all Ministries, Divisions, and Departments to stay alert and avoid opening or responding to these malicious attachments. They have emphasized that the only official NTISB email addresses for communication are dsntisb@cabinet.gov.pk, asntisb1@cabinet.gov.pk, and asntisb2@cabinet.gov.pk. The division clarified that no official emails regarding Eid-ul-Azha holidays have been issued and advised users to remain cautious and avoid interacting with any suspicious emails or attachments.
