Islamabad, Pakistan – The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) successfully conducted a focused two-day cybersecurity capacity building workshop for the personnel of the Prime Minister’s Office. Themed “Emerging Cyber Threats and Digital Assets Protection Measures,” the workshop was designed to improve awareness and readiness among government staff by equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to address ongoing and evolving cyber risks.
The workshop was tailored specifically for different tiers within the Prime Minister’s Office, ensuring relevance and clarity for participants from various roles. Attendees included Secretaries, Executives, Officers, IT Managers, and ministerial staff, each of whom received customized sessions based on their operational responsibilities. The training focused on recognizing cyber threats, understanding best practices in digital asset protection, and adopting secure behaviors within digital workspaces. It emphasized not just theoretical understanding but also practical strategies that can be implemented in real-world settings to reduce the risk of cyber compromise.
Sessions were led by Dr. Haider Abbas, Director General of National CERT, TI, and Mr. Syed Imran Haider, Assistant Director Trainings. Both brought deep expertise to the sessions, delivering actionable insights through their interactive training modules. Participants were educated on threat landscapes affecting public sector digital operations, methods to maintain cyber hygiene, and the importance of secure digital conduct. The engagement reflected National CERT’s ongoing commitment to increasing cybersecurity awareness across Pakistan’s government institutions.
This workshop is part of a broader initiative by National CERT to build cybersecurity capacity across key public sector organizations. As part of its national mandate, the agency is actively delivering training programs, technical advisories, and readiness sessions to help institutions improve their internal resilience and incident response capabilities. The training for the Prime Minister’s Office aligns with this objective and is a significant step in equipping top-level government entities with essential knowledge to safeguard the nation’s digital infrastructure.
By organizing these workshops, National CERT is addressing the need for continuous learning in cybersecurity, particularly in the context of rapidly advancing threats and the growing digitalization of government operations. Through structured training and engagement, National CERT is strengthening internal cyber readiness and helping departments adopt best practices that align with national security standards.
This initiative reflects a focused effort by PKCERT to not only protect digital systems but also build a culture of cybersecurity responsibility and awareness across all levels of governance. It also reinforces the importance of cybersecurity training as an essential element in ensuring the secure and stable functioning of Pakistan’s public digital ecosystem.
