A partnership was forged between the National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) and FAST NUCES to bolster cybersecurity capacity.
The agreement, formalized through a MoU, was signed by Dr. Haider Abbas, TI, Director General of National CERT, and Dr. Aftab Maroof, Rector of FAST NUCES. Senior representatives from both institutions, including Dr. Shahzad Sarfraz, Director of FAST NUCES, also attended the signing ceremony, highlighting the importance of this collaboration in addressing the nation’s cybersecurity priorities.
The MoU outlines a comprehensive collaboration aimed at addressing Pakistan’s evolving cybersecurity needs. The partnership combines the strengths and resources of National CERT and FAST NUCES, with a focus on providing advanced training, cutting-edge research, and practical opportunities for students and professionals in the fields of Incident Response, Forensic Investigation, Vulnerability Assessment, Penetration Testing, and Policy Development. Additionally, the collaboration emphasizes the creation of customized cybersecurity technologies to meet Pakistan’s specific requirements.
A core component of the partnership involves raising awareness about cybersecurity through seminars, workshops, and knowledge exchange initiatives. This collaboration also includes providing students with valuable internship opportunities and job placements to prepare them for successful careers in the cybersecurity industry.
Both National CERT and FAST NUCES are committed to advancing Pakistan’s national security and academic excellence, with the partnership focusing on the development of AI and ML-driven autonomous cybersecurity systems and prototype-focused research. These initiatives aim to address emerging cyber threats while ensuring that the next generation of professionals is equipped with the skills and expertise required to combat the increasingly complex challenges in the digital landscape.
